Note from Your Extension Agent

By Bud Cottrill

I would like to thank the Association members, and the latest class members, for your cooperation in submitting your education and volunteer hours to Fran Moore.  Fran has expressed her appreciation in receiving timely submissions, which makes her record keeping much easier.  She prefers periodic updates rather than only once or twice a year.

Several members of this past winter's Master Gardener class have already completed their thirty hours of community service and have received their certification.  Congratulations to them and welcome to the Association. Additional projects throughout the summer and fall will provide hours for their classmates, and current members, for completing their requirements for (re)certification.

As summer progresses, and hot temperatures dominate the weather, please remember to protect yourself while working outdoors.  Using sunscreen and insect repellents, wearing a hat and cooler summer clothing, drinking plenty of water, and taking breaks in the shade will help prevent heat stress or sunstroke.  If possible, try to work in the cooler mornings or evenings.  In the event you may need assistance, keep someone informed of where you are, what you are doing, and what your planned time schedule is.  I hope you had an enjoyable and safe summer.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
